2012 Calendar Week 5, January 30th
This site lists the Internet resources, software, search engines etc. which the author finds the most useful. The idea is to present with a short description only the arguably very best findings in various categories. The criteria for inclusion are:
- Usability

- Free availability (only freeware, where downloads are concerned)

- Ease of handling (no IT expertise required)

The Internet will be continuously monitored for new developments, but of the hundreds of findings within a week only a few, if none at all for individual weeks may be included here.

| Upon inserting a URL into the search box, the service will return the results for various safety aspects, provided it was tested beforehand by Norton. | Upon inserting a dead URL into the search box, the service will return either an archived link or an alternative, for example the link the URL migrated to. When it cannot show anything, it gives the reason why. | Upon sumitting a text this will be spelled out in the "Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta" fashion. This can be useful when trying to spell something over a bad phone connection. It could then be firts submitted and the results be read out. | A heatmap of the frequency of photographs of places of interest taken in all parts of the world | A tool to make a mosaic out of a given photograph with a number of small ones building it, this site offers more tools along this line. |
