2010 Calender Week 11, March 8th
This site lists the Internet resources, software, search engines etc. which the author finds the most useful. The idea is to present with a short description only the arguably very best findings in various categories. The criteria for inclusion are:

- Free availability (only freeware, where downloads are concerned)

- Ease of handling (no IT expertise required)

The Internet will be continuously monitored for new developments, but of the hundreds of findings within a week only a few, if none at all for individual weeks may be included here.

| ...which are really bookmarklets to drag to the bookmarks toolbar for starting an instant translation of a highlighted text into one of the 53 languages offered in this table. | While there are a number of currency converters to be found on the Internet, this one distinguishes itself from the others by a feature much appreciated: a bookmarklet generator for conversions from one chosen currency to another. Just like in the previous entry the bookmarklet should be dragged to the bookmarks toolbar and then a highlighted text, like a price in an online catalog can be converted by a single click on the bookmarklet. Having many bookmarklets on the toolbar may be confusing. A folder with a limited number might be the better solution. | Here are assembled online classical texts with emphasis on Greek and Roman literature, history and philosophy. There are also images of archeological sites. The pages are maintained by Tufts University. | This site contains the biography and a gallery of the works of Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, the Dutch Baroque painter. Images can be zoomed in to about 700 x 500 pixels. | This Geolocation Service will give details for a submitted IP address like city, provider, host and a map of choice from Google, Windows Live (should be renamed Bing)and Yahoo. It would be useful, when in doubt about visting or ordering from a website, epecially, if details are not fully available. |
